Stonehouse Methodist Church Celebrated its 70th Anniversary over the weekend of 5th/6th July. We began with a Flower Festival which was well supported and the varied arrangements were admired including ones by Foodbank, ‘APT’ Community Hub and church members. Many memories were shared over coffee, tea and cakes, it was good to see friends from other churches and those who returned after many years including Revd Les Judd, our Minister from 1971-73 and his wife Alison and Deacon Steve and Jean Peck.

As a Gold Award Eco-Church we were delighted to be given another tree – John Parker of the Arboricultural Association kindly planted a Rowan ‘Olympic Flame’ on Saturday morning.

It was wonderful to see the church so full on Sunday morning for our Anniversary service led by Revd Dr Marcus Torchon, Chair of the Bristol Methodist District.  He challenged us to be not just visible but ‘Present’ in Stonehouse as we look towards 2032…and beyond.  There was much reminiscing and fellowship over coffee and a delicious lunch afterwards. We are grateful to everyone who made the celebrations such a success.
